The WomenGirlsLadies intergenerational panel brought a fresh conversation among diverse feminist authors and activists. Panelists included Gloria Feldt (co-author with Kathleen Turner of "Send Yourself Roses," author of "The War on Choice" and former president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America); Courtney E. Martin (author of "Perfect Girls, Starving Daughters" and commentator for Feministing.com and The American Prospect); Maria Teresa Kumar (founder and executive director of Voto Latino) and Brittany Collins, a Women and Gender Studies major at ASU. Gloria Feldt

Gloria Feldt, 67, is an author and expert in women’s rights, health, politics, and leadership from where the personal meets the political.  She was a teen mom whose passion for reproductive justice led her to a 30-year career with Planned Parenthood Federation of America, culminating as its national president and CEO from 1996-2005. Gloria’s latest book co-authored with Kathleen turner, Send YOURSELF Roses, was a New York Times best seller.  She is the author of two previous books; The War on Choice and Behind Every Choice is a Story.  She is at work on a book about women’s checkered relationship with power. As a newsmaker, she has appeared on shows such as Hardball, O’Reilly, Today, Good Morning America, The Daily Show, Lehrer News Hour and most major national newscasts.  As a commentator she has written for the New York Times, Boston Globe, USA Today, Elle, Salon, Women’s e-news, among others.  Glamour honored her as Woman of the Year, and Vanity Fair named her to its “Top 200 Women Leaders, Legends, and Trailblazers.”  See more at http://www.GloriaFeldt.com.  
Maria Teresa Kumar Maria Teresa Kumar, 37, was named by Hispanic Magazine as one of the Top Latinas in Government and Politics. Kumar, is the founding Executive Director of Voto Latino, a national organization which leveraged social media and celebrity power to raise the Latino vote five percent or more in the last election. During the 2008 election cycle, Maria Teresa was a regular commentator during MSNBC’s primary and general election night coverage.  She was also a frequent guest on CNN’s AC 360 and American Morning, NPR, Telemundo and MSNBC’s Hardball. Maria Teresa is an Ambassador Swanee Hunt Prime Mover Fellow, a Women’s Media Center Fellow and a Woodrow Wilson Public Policy International Affairs Fellow.  She is a recipient of numerous leadership awards including from The White House Project, Imagen Foundation and the New York Legislature. This year, Washington Life magazine placed Maria Teresa on the cover of their issue highlighting the most influential Washingtonians under 40.

Courtney E. Martin

Courtney E. Martin, 29, is the author of Perfect Girls, Starving Daughters: How the Quest for Perfection is Harming Young Women. She is a widely-read freelance journalist and editor at Feministing.com. Courtney is a Senior Correspondent for the American Prospect Online and her work has appeared in the Washington Post, Newsweek, and the Christian Science Monitor, among others. She is currently at work on a book for Beacon Press about ten people under 35 creating innovative social change. She has been on Good Morning America, the TODAY Show, the O’Reilly Factor, and MSNBC, and spoken on radio programs and at colleges, non-profits, and parenting organizations across the nation. She is the Director of Undergraduate Programs at the OP-ED Project, a Woodhull fellow, and part of the Progressive Women’s Choices Project at the Women’s Media Center. Read more about her work at www.courtneyemartin.com."

 Brittany L. Collins, 21, is a senior at Arizona State University where she majors in women and gender studies and will receive a certificate in Arabic studies.  She was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV where she attended a performing arts high school. Along with being an Arizona State University Dean Scholar, she was also awarded the 2009 Critical Language Scholarship for an intensive summer of Arabic study in Amman, Jordan. She has been recognized for dedication to educating and promoting tolerance with regards to the Arab World.  In her spare time she enjoys playing rugby for the Arizona State University Women’s Rugby Football Club and participating in Ju-Jitsu self-defense training.  Brittany hopes to become a Fulbright Scholar.
