The Global Politics of Women’s Health, Human Rights and Development with Nafis Sadik
The Third Feldt/Barbanell Women of the World Lecture
Nafis Sadik, special advisor to the U.N. secretary-general, special envoy for HIV/AIDS in Asia and the Pacific and former executive director of the United Nations Population Fund spoke on, “The Global Politics of Women’s Health, Human Rights and Development” on Oct. 16, 2006, in Neeb Hall at ASU at the Tempe campus.
"As she took the stage, Dr. Sadik's presence was powerful. Dr. Sadik presented issues not commonly dealt with in the United States, speaking of the world's condition. Dr. Sadik has lectured across the world informing nations and their leaders of the risks of having an uninformed society. Sadik challenges governments to educate women about contraceptives and choices available. Overall, Sadik promotes the empowerment of women through education."
